Research projects in materials I

SMX Semester projects – Fall 2019-2020

In the following we present possible topics for “Research project in materials I” (10h, 10 credits) to be performed during the next semester. Projects with accordingly reduced work load (“Projet matériaux” au Bachelor 6 (7h, 7 crédits) are offered for the Bachelor students.

Possible topics are listed here below. Please just contact the relevant assistant.

* Current-induced domain wall motion in ferromagnetic nanostripes

For more information please contact the PhD student of LMGN Korbinian Baumgaertl (korbinian.baumgaertl@epfl.ch).

* Magnetic force microscopy applied to nanopatterned ferromagnetic quasicrystals

For more information please contact the PhD student of LMGN Sho Watanabe (sho.watanabe@epfl.ch).

* Growth and characterization of skyrmion-hosting materials

For more information please contact the PhD student of LMGN/LMSC Anna Kukolova (anna.kukolova@epfl.ch).

* Magnetoresistance of individually contacted ferromagnetic Co and Ni nanotubes

For more information please contact the PhD student of LMGN Maria-Carmen Giordano (maria.giordano@epfl.ch).

* Real space imaging of topological spin textures and their dynamic response

For more information please contact the PhD student of LMGN Ping Che (ping.che@epfl.ch).
